For fanfictions people have betas. Yes, even original story writers. So if you need one, ask here and if you want here is a place to apply.
Currently I can beta some stories. No Rated R ones though.

I feel I am a reasonably good beta. Mostly for grammar and such since I like to affectionately call myself the Grammar Nazi ;D

how do you do with everything else like canonization, spelling, In characterness, No Mary Sues, and it goes on? Well yeah, I correct spelling too. I mean that pretty much goes hand in hand with grammar. It drives me sooo crazy when people spell canon characters' names wrong. I also really loathe when people write canon characters OOC. Especially when it is a character that I love and respect. Most fangirls like to portray Sesshoumaru from Inuyasha with feelings and...remorse and stuff. He doesn't feel those emotions! Grrrr.... I haven't had to beta someone's work who used OOCness and Mary Sues and stuff, but if I ever did I'd certainly let them know that's not the way to go.

Uh well when I said I would, I wasn't actually intending to do it right away... At the very most, judging by it's length it would probably take like 7-10 minutes, and probably less than that.
I'll work on it tomorrow, since I'm sleepy right now.

That quickly, wow! Make sure it's thouroghly checked though. I thought it was in days, but okay.
Talking about return time, I take about a two days or to like three weeks, I want to check it over, thoroughly, but the average is about four days. I do a couple of check overs, but right I beta for others too, but you are more then welcome to ask me to edit. I don't mind at all.

Why does it take you so long? What do you do when you beta? Specifically.

Okay, I read the story through, and correct things very throughly. Then, I let it sit a day or to, so I can forget, so I can pretend I haven't read this before, then correct it once it again, then maybe if it's a very tricky piece, I wait more, and do it again, so it wouldn't have any mistakes, or as clean as I can get it.

Oh wow. Well I don't let it sit for a couple days lol. I don't see the point in that, specially if the person is waiting for you to beta it. Speaking of waiting, sorry I haven't beta-ed your thing. I'll work on it tomorrow! XD Yeah...I said that before, but this time I'll try to make an effort to remember.
