I always wondered about it. I heard about it so much, in things I read or watch. But I don't have a definite understanding of what it means... All I know is that it's a certian state of sleep in which you can be easily awoken or someting like that. ( ) Can someone explain it to me? :'/

first of all R.E.M stands for rapid eye movement which is what ure eyes do during that time of sleep R.E.M is the last phase in the sleep cycle then u start it over again throughout the night. you can't be easily awakened from it because it's phase where ure body is most relax and scientist believe it's the phase of sleep u dream in and it is mandatory to get it. studies in mice show mice who didn't get R.E.M sleep or adequate enough died within a few months.

Second of all!
Is that why the lucky blue hairs die in their sleep?

QUESTION AVOIDED?!
I learned in mah psych class that we pick up on things when we are in REM sleep, even though we can't remember dreams sometimes. An example... If parents were to argue whilst their child is sleeping, and he's in the REM state, he can pick it all up, because his body is defenseless, being more relaxed. It can effect how he feels when he wakes up and whatnot.
