Part of my drama homework.

[glow=red,2,300] If by some chance that you would still like to partake in the D&D game that my dad is going to run me and other friends through, what type of character would you make?
What this campaign my dad is running us through is a sea-based campaign. Everything we do is going to be based on a boat at sea or on land in a Port city.
The world we will be using is one slightly modernized by magic. (IE trains and flying ships. <--- sailing ships in shape that is.)
So the choices of characters run like this.
(Be warned this list will be long. So I won't hold it against you if your head explodes and you blame me for it. But this is partial payback for the sentence you sent me and killed me. I had to use yet another favor from Satan to send me back. XP)
Fighter types:
Barbarians, Illiterate tough guys that fly into frenzy when provoked. Usually during a fight.
Fighters, Basically what it describes someone actually trained on how to fight. There are three main variations when it comes to playing someone of this class.
--There's the Heavy Fighter who uses full body armor (Half plate, Splint, Full plate, Banded, Hide.) while tough limit mobility, I wouldn't recommend this one in particular because this is a sea campaign and you'd sink in such armors.
--There's the Light Fighter, who I tend to like personally because in a word they can get "annoying" they specialize in the aspect of "You can't touch me." Meaning that any time you try to hit them they dodge out of the way. And they also specialize in getting to hit you back about 3 or 4 times before you hit them again.
--Archers are masters with the bow and arrow. About all I can say for them because I don't play them much.
Monks, these people are martial artists, in a sense, who have philosophical views on the world they perceive because of the libraries they hang around.
Paladins are warriors of their religion. I don't necessarily like playing them because they have a strict system on how to play them. They have the ability to cast spells but I'll explain them in the Healer's section.
Rangers, expert trackers and guides in the wilderness. Not one I'd bring on to a ship also unless you put heavy emphasis on ship based specialties. They can cast spells but again I'll explain in the Healers section.
Swashbucklers, these are ideal for a ship campaign because they are basically a pirate in a general term. They are another form of the light fighter.
Hexblades, These people tend to master curses (not the language) they can merely look at you and you have bad luck. They also have the ability to cast spells too but I'll explain them in the wizard section.
Duskblades, at first I was stuck on where to put them but I chose here. I chose here because while like Hexblades they use a variation of the wizard spells they also are trained heavily in fighting, and unlike wizards they can wear heavy armors and not worry. I'll explain the last sentence in the wizards too.
Knights, these people are basically cavalry. Knights on horseback suck for a sea-based campaign unless you have a mount that can fly. Like a Pegasus, Griffon, Sphinx, or Dinosaur (Yes dinosaur) then I would advise against this class.
Whew finally done with the fighter type.
....
Wizard Type AKA Arcane Type:
Wizards, these people are students that at one point opened a book on magic and chose to learn how to cast the spells taken from the books. Wizards can practically learn any and every spell that is commonly known because they save that knowledge in a book. About what I mentioned with wizards unable to wear armor that's because they have a rule about them where they studied magic and only magic instead of anything else. Like the fighter type there are different variations of wizards. Limited by what school you studied in.
Abjuration - a wizard who studied how to protect people from harm and other magic.
Conjuration - Someone who is capable of summoning creatures to fight for them. And this school has what I call a cheat method that they have spells that certain monsters cannot ignore their pain.
Divination - Think looking into a crystal ball and seeing the future. Or just being able to detect presences.
Enchantment - Like enchanting's definition you basically say "I'm your friend please protect me from these other people"
Evocation - Typical wizard that wanted to learn how to blow things up in a really cool way.
Illusion - Like the definition this school is all about causing others to see what is not there or not see at all.
Necromancy - Control over dead things. Or taking life from live things and healing yourself.
Transmutation - The ability to enhance your physical features. Pretty handy the more experienced you get. And if you are very experienced you can even outclass most fighter types.
Done with wizards but not done with the wizard type.
Sorcerers, are people with magic born into them they are very pretty generally in appearance (like you >.>) and unlike wizards can only know a limited amount of spell but are able to cast those spells MANY times a day. Like the wizard they cannot wear armor either because it will mess up their spells.
Warlocks are a type of sorcerer but more malevolent sometimes because their magic is can be traced back to a time where an ancestor traded their soul to a demon or devil for power.
Warmages are like the Duskblade like I mentioned above but these people focused more on magic than fighting. While the Duskblade has the role reversed they focused on fighting more than casting spells. But like the Duskblade they can wear armor without having to worry about a spell messing up on them.
Done with the Arcane Types.
.....
Healer Types.
Clerics, in a sense these people are Priests of their religion who are capable of healing a person of disease, sickness, or weakness. They can summon help like the Conjurer mentioned above. Or they can be a fighter like the Paladin. In a sense they are the Wizard of religious causes because they are able to know any spell they choose.
Druids, are herbalists and people that claim their magic is taken from nature itself. If you specialize in mastering water or air then you can be pretty effective in the ship campaign.
Favored Souls, in short the god they worship said Hey you are my chosen one. This class is basically the Sorcerer of religions.
Healers, a class named for what it stands for. While mundane at low experiences they can get very powerful later on in the sense that they can say. "Oh you lost an arm a leg and your head. Not a problem wait 3 seconds and I'll make you good as new."
...........
Sneaky types:
Rogues, a Jack-of-all-trades and someone who will hit you where it hurts and take your money. A very fun class.
Bards, (which I am playing in the campaign) these people are the actors, poets, philosophers, and comedians of this fantasy world. They can cast spells like a sorcerer also.
Scouts, basically they are the people who hide and watch the enemy. Reconnaissance.
Beguilers, a mix between the rogue and illusionist mentioned above.
I believe I am done with the character types.
There are also races to be mentioned also but I'll save that if this E-mail didn't scare you. [/glow]
