George Washington of course, if with out him today america wouldn't established as much. He set the record example and how this country should be run. Abe is in the top ten though.

i have to say thomas jefferson. he helped with a lot of the most famous documents in US history, and then soon became president and helped shape this great country.

Abe cuz he did the most in getting rid of slavery You know, until my sophomore year of high school, I was totally convinced that Abe hated slavery and that was why he abolished it. However in my sophomore history class I learned that he only abolished it because it suited his needs at the time; more soldiers for the war or something. Um...Civil War I guess. That really changed my opinion of him.

but not true XD there was a alrge movement in the north to not even have any black people in the military, they wanted slaves to be free but not on the same level as them. personally i believe abe is over rated he didn't get rid of slavery, congress did, and the emancipation proclamation did nothing, it was purely political to give the northern states a reason to fight the war that was better then "well... we dont think that they should be allowed to just remove themselves from the us"
i believe that the best president was FDR he held us through the war and past a whole bunch of legislation that helped this country out tremendous

Um...that doesn't mean that what I said about Abe freeing the slaves to suit his needs isn't true >_> I don't remember the exact details, or like how much of my statement is truthful, but I know at the very least Abe wasn't as passionate about freeing slaves to have them free and equal as I had originally been taught.
